Hui Malama was able to show the public their commitment to preserving the culture at February’s First Friday event in Wailuku. Assisting mentors who play a key role in teaching all of us about the Hawaiian culture, students pounded poi, helped in selling and handing out samples of poi, explained about kalo, talked about the many varieties of bananas, made beautiful flower leis and most importantly, they shared their Hui Malama experiences.
