Maui Hui Malama Board of Directors is excited to announce its selection of Chelsie Haunga Evans, as the Agency’s new Executive Director. Chelsie, born and raised here on Maui, recently returned home after gaining experience and contributing her talents to various industries within the non-profit sector statewide and nationally. Chelsie was the Director of the Youth Services Center on Main Street in Wailuku in 2005.
“I am honored and thankful for this opportunity. Pualani Enos believed in me early in my career and taught me a lot about strong leadership paired with humility. I am excited to be back home here at Maui Hui Malama and am honored with the chance to build and expand the work pioneered by those who came before me,” said Chelsie Haunga Evans.
“On behalf of the board of directors, we are excited to welcome Chelsie Haunga Evans as our Executive Director. She has proven herself in her short time here and her vision for Hui Malama aligns with our strategic plan. Chelsie has big shoes to fill in following Pua’s leadership and accomplishments and we are confident that she will do a great job,” said Vince Baldemor, Board President.
Chelsie has been back with Maui Hui Malama since December of 2018 as the Director of Programs and Operations, learning about programs, operations, grants and data-management, in addition to the Community CARE Learning Organizational Model and the Personal Pathway Framework that guides and evolves all agency work. She has immersed herself by engaging with various members of Maui Hui Malama’s Hub Services, working closely with staff and volunteers, youth skills trainers, learning and job readiness coaches and wellness providers as she develops her understanding of the vast and diverse needs and capacities of our community members.
